"So... tayo na ba?", he asked.
I fidgeted, although a smile was creeping up my lips. "Ikaw..."
"Anniv na natin ngayon, para di na maraming tatandaan na dates", he said, grinning.
"Tanungin mo muna ako..." I was trying to be hard-to-get! I wanted him to ask me if I wanted to be his girlfriend -- a long time cheesy romantic fantasy of mine.
He hesitated a bit. "Mahal mo ba ako?"
Although I became mildly disoriented by the question, I didn't hesitate and answered, "Oo".
And it got sealed by a kiss.
Although I was asking myself, "Mahal ko na nga ba sya?"
And as we held each other tighter, and the kiss deepened, and my heart beat faster and faster, I threw caution to the wind, and thought with a resolve, "Mahal ko na nga sya".
Really, love, mahal? I think not, well, at that time. Must be them after-sex endorphins warping our brains then. Heh.

So, whirlwind romance, I has it 10 years ago.
What started out as a teenybopper-high-school movie, accelerated into an R-rated romance flick, which rapidly developed into the longest-running telenovela series of my life. [In which every September 9 for the past 9 years was celebrated with some kind of issue or baggage (except for 2005).]
But then, I'll always have those days 10 years ago, when everything was as simple as weekly phone calls, tuksuhan, getting kilig over a car ride to class, discovering he's into me too, impromptu movie dates, making out EVERYWHERE, and finally, and officially becoming a couple.
